Dear
Celebration Sisters,
We have just concluded our Spring Retreat and participation in the
UMC Annual Conference in Houston. We would like to share with
you some of the exciting things happening with Celebration.
We are reminded of the scripture in I Corinthians 2:9 that reads
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the
heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love
Him." We are in awe of what God is doing through this ministry.
Women are accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior, brokenhearted
are being healed, blind eyes are being opened to the truth in God's
word and the captives are being set free.
Two exciting things for us this year at Annual Conference were Celebration's
sponsorship of organized prayer before and during the Conference
and the Prayer Room set up on site for all to use. Jan Wilson
and Marcia Seba did an outstanding job of heading up this ministry
for Celebration. (You can read Marcia's report for more details
elsewhere in the newsletter.)
Next, we want to welcome our new readers to the Celebration Newsletter!
We had 48 women sign-up to receive the newsletter. In other
exciting news, twenty-one women requested information on starting
a Celebration Chapter in their church. There were twenty churches
represented in these requests.
In closing, I want to share a statement we used in the article on
Celebration printed in the 2003 Annual Conference News (daily newspaper).
"We see God's hand upon this ministry-for it has been raised
up by Him, we believe if this ministry is of man, it will fail;
but if this ministry is of God... it will succeed." This statement
mirrors the scriptures in Acts 5:38-39 that those in this ministry
have always believed to be true, "...if this plan or this work
is of men, it will come to nothing, but if it is of God, you cannot
overthrow it--lest you even be found to fight against God."
AMEN!
Much love,
Judy

Leadership
Training News:
We
are looking forward to our next Leadership event! We have
two Leadership Retreats per year and they are always
wonderful times of learning and sharing together. The next
one is scheduled for Saturday, August 9th from 9:00
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Westminster UMC. Westminster is
located at 5801 San Felipe in Houston, at the corner of Bering
and San Felipe. This event is for everyone involved
in the leadership of Celebration, whether officers or ministry
team leaders. It is especially important for those
who are new officers to attend, but will be helpful to those who
have been at it for awhile as well. If your church
is just getting ready to have its information meeting, this is
a great way to get a jump-start on officer training!
Sooo... who should attend?? new leadership, current leadership,
and possible leadership!
Our
theme for this Leadership Retreat is "Empowered for Unity".
We will learn how to better communicate as we work together as
team leaders. We will also talk some about dealing with
the conflicts that arise occasionally! We will have
workshops for various leadership areas such as Presidents,
Officers, Prayer ministry, Praise and worship, and Ministry Teams.
Quotes
from the February Leadership Retreat:
"When
we split into the groups and I went to the Presidents meeting--lots
of great ideas."
"Worship,
Prayer Ministry, the connectedness of Celebration across the conference,
the importance placed on equipping us and encouraging us to be
prepared to lead someone to Christ was all very meaningful."
"The
General Meeting was wonderful."
"I
love to sing, and the praise and worship had a very powerful message
for me."
"It
was beyond and exceeded what I expected!"
Come
be revived, renewed, and refreshed!
Come
be equipped for the job God has called you to do!
Come
connect with your Celebration sisters from all over the Conference!
Cost
is $15.00 and includes lunch. To register, send a check
(made out to Texas Annual Conference with Celebration in the memo
line) and completed form to Cindy Masterson, 6154 Del
Monte, Houston, TX, 77057. (Please return by Aug. 1.)

A
Message from Mission Bend UMC, Audrey Spencer, President
God
has provided our chapter in the past year an overwhelming show of
love and grace. As we formed our chapter in October 2002 with
ladies from Ashford UMC, we knew He had great things in store for
us all! We have had three events and a retreat, all of which
God was their in all His glory and then some. The good news
is, that the Ashford women are now in the praying stages of forming
a chapter at Ashford UMC and the bond remains strong between the
two. We are so proud!!!
Our next event will be August 23rd with speaker Alta Harvey, who
is the Director of Christian Education at Windsor Village.
If you have never heard Alta, you won't want to miss her powerful
message, and if you have heard her, you know you can't miss hearing
her again. Bring a friend and be doubly blessed.
We pray you have a blessed and fun summer! Join us on August
23 at Mission Bend UMC at 9:30am for food, fun and fellowship.
Give me a call at the church for more information or directions.
Yours in Christ, Audrey
